Indian Rocks Beach

Quiet Indian Rocks Beach is a beautiful barrier island community bordering the white sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico on Florida’s Central Gulf Coast. A relatively small town just under one square mile, Indian Rocks Beach is known for its charming atmosphere and panoramic beaches.

Legend says that the town got its name from a natural sulfur spring (surrounded in rocks) that native Indians claimed had healing properties. Early settlers referred to the springs as the area with Indian Rocks. That site is believed to be present-day Kolb Park, across from the town’s City Hall.

Indian Rocks Beach’s eastern side features canals and Intracoastal Waterway frontage lined with single-family homes and beach cottages. Boaters enjoy setting sail from the protected waters of Boca Ciega Bay. The western side offers powdery Gulf beaches, luxury high-rise condos and a few businesses.

Indian Rocks Beach connects to the mainland and the city of Largo via the Walsingham Bridge. To the north you will find famous Clearwater Beach and prestigious Belleair Beach. Indian Rocks Beach is set aside from the hustle and bustle of coastal tourist areas, but is convenient to Florida’s famous theme parks, and the cities of Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Tampa. Visitors and residents take advantage of many beach accesses, a nature preserve, parks, boat slips, and recreational water activities.
